New Website

We're working on an official website. You can check it out at www.blackcrossproductions.com. It's still under construction at the moment, but when it's finished, this blog will be moved over to that site, along with some other fun things. So keep checking back! We'll keep this blog live until the new site and blog are set up and ready to use!

Upcoming Publications

We've got a great line-up of material for our debut month this December. The first issue of our magazine Black Cross is due out. The theme is superheroes, it's titled "Heroes Wanted," and we're very excited about it. We've already got a couple great stories lined up for it along with a few pieces of good art. We still have room, so keep those submissions coming.

In December we will also see the release of a sketch book called Undead Ideas by artist Trent Fairbrother, winner of this year's Art vs. Art competition. Despite the name, the sketches are not of zombies, or any other type of monster.

We're making December a debut to remember by releasing a third book called Historic Moments in History. More to come on that later, but if you like humor, you won't want to miss this.

Stay tuned for more news from Black Cross, and if you'd like your work to appear in our magazine, check out our submission guidelines.

Now Accepting Submmissions for First Issue--Superheroes

We are kicking off our quarterly publication Black Cross. The theme for the first issue is superhero fiction and is called "Heroes Wanted." We are looking for short stories, illustrations, short comics...If it's about superheroes, we want to look at it. Maybe you want to write a newspaper article about a superhero. Go for it. Have a one-page comic story you've written and drawn? Send it in. Did you make a cooking recipe as done by a superhero? That's weird, but I really want to read it. A comic book script will be a hard sell to us, because we don't have the resources to have an artist devote his time to it, but we may consider it for publication in the form of a script if it stands out.

The collection will be in black and white, so please, no color work. Also, no copyrighted characters. If you've got a great story about a certain man from outer space who was raised by humans to be our greatest protector, I'm sure it's awesome, but don't send it to us. Likewise, no art of copyrighted characters.

We are looking for 5-10 written pieces for this collection. We have a certain length in mind for the publication, and we will use as many pieces as we need to to fill it. Maybe it's one awesome novella, or fifteen great short short stories. Whatever it takes. Illustrations will generally be single-pages, and we can fit a good number of them in here.

This is a small press, so you're obviously not interested in pay, but just in case that is your motivation, here is how it works. For writing over 2500 words, we will pay $3 and a copy of the completed magazine. For written pieces less than 2500 words, we will send you a copy of the magazine. We will pay $5 for a page of illustration, along with a contributor's copy. If you are submitting a multi-page comic story with art, we will negotiate a rate with you.

We will print these and have them ready for sale at the ASH comic show in Indianapolis on December 30. Our deadline for submission is November 15. Please submit .rtf files to blackcrosspub at gmail.com. Art may submitted as tiffs, jpegs, or pdfs.

Welcome to the Black Cross...

...Boredom Relief.

We are a small press, specializing in the publication of speculative fiction--science fiction, fantasy, horror, superheroes...The list goes on and includes just about anything that we feel is worthy of publication.

If you would like to see your work in print, please check out our submission guidelines. If you would like to discover something new, check out our previews page or our store.
